Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! have been announced for Nintendo Switch, introducing a new style of mainline Pokémon game.
The new games will launch on 16 November and have been designed as an entry point into the core RPG series of Pokémon games, which will make its debut on Nintendo Switch in the second half of 2019, after first being teased at E3 2017.
Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! are inspired by Pokémon Yellow, taking players back to Kanto and featuring just the first 151 Pokémon; they also have gameplay mechanics similar to Pokémon GO, such as throwing a Poké Ball to catch a wild Pokémon without needing to battle it.
The games also have a co-operative two-player mode, allowing a second player to use a single Joy-Con to join in to adventure and battle alongside the main player, while Pokémon GO players will be able to transfer their first-generation Pokémon into the Let's Go! games.
Launching on the same day is the Poké Ball Plus, a special Nintendo Switch controller which can be used to play the Let's Go! games, store a favourite Pokémon, and can even be used in place as a Pokémon GO Plus.
More details about the games will be revealed ahead of launch.
