Nintendo has confirmed that the next major game in The Legend of Zelda series will launch simulateneously for Wii U and NX, and will now launch in 2017.
Speaking at Nintendo's latest earnings announcement, alongside the first major news about NX, President Tatsumi Kimishima revealed new release information about The Legend of Zelda for Wii U.
As many fans had anticipated - and in a repeat of history - the game will now also be released for NX, and the two versions of the game are being developed concurrently, with a view to a simultaneous global release.
In order for the developers to take more time in polishing the game, Nintendo said, the game's release has been shifted to 2017, though no comment was made as to whether the NX version would launch alongside the system.
The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will be Nintendo's core focus at E3 2016.
The Legend of Zelda: The latest instalment in this classic series is scheduled to launch simultaneously for both Wii U and NX, and both versions of the game have been in development in tandem. Because the developers need more time to polish the game, it will launch in 2017, but it will be the focus of Nintendo’s presence at E3.
