Yacht Club Games has announced that King of Cards, the final expansion to the platforming epic Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, will launch in early 2018.

As revealed in the Nindies Summer Showcase, the final expansion of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove will be called Shovel Knight: King of Cards and will feature the self-titled King Knight as a playable character for the first time.

King of Cards will feature more than 30 brand new levels over four worlds, while feats and challenges return from previous Shovel Knight chapters, and card battles offer a type of gameplay new to the series.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards will be available to download separately from Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch, and will be added to Switch, 3DS, and Wii U versions of Treasure Trove as a free update at the same time.

Yacht Club Games has also confirmed to The Nintendo Channel that King of Cards will be compatible with the Shovel Knight amiibo, as are the other expansions, and that standalone releases of Shovel of Hope and Plague of Shadows are currently being tested.
